Instructions

    • 1

Make a new page in Photoshop. To do this, click on the "Start" menu and select Photoshop. When Photoshop opens click on "File," "New" and select your page size. Select transparent for the background.

    • 2

Pick the marquee tool from your tool palette. Make a circular marquee.

    • 3

Design a work path from your marquee. The work path allows you to make the marquee into any shape but select the circle to make a halo of fire.

    • 4

Select the airbrush tool. The settings should be set as follows: dissolve, 45 pixel brush and 10 to 20 percent opacity.

    • 5

Choose a dark brown color for the first layer of the halo of fire. Use the dissolve brush created in Step 4 to stroke the path. At first this will not look good, but just continue.

    • 6

Grab a smaller brush and add a brighter color, such as orange. Use a strong pressure for this layer. Use the dissolve brush to stroke it again.

    • 7

Use the smudge tool with the opacity set at 50 percent. Change the size of the brush and repeat this 5 more times. Play around with the levels until you are satisfied with your halo of fire.
