It takes a special person to be able to own a full grown alligator, sometimes owners need to sell their alligators because they can no longer care for them. Some people choose to raise and sell alligators for a living. Whatever the reason for selling your alligator you need to make sure it goes to a responsible owner, follow these steps to learn how to sell your alligator.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Set a reasonable price for your alligator.
Step2
Place a classified ad for him online or in local reptile magazines. You want to reach reptile enthusiasts so be sure to place ads where they will be seen. You can also spread the word at reptile clubs that you are trying to sell an alligator.
Step3
Post a picture of him with your ad so people can see how handsome he is. If he is an older gator it may help to give a description of his size and temperament, if he is used to being handled it may help him find a home.
Step4
Interview the prospective buyers to ensure that they know how much care an alligator requires. Educate the buyer on proper alligator care so you can be certain that you are selling your alligator to a responsible person and not just somebody wanting to look cool to their friends.
Step5
Arrange for overnight shipping if you sell your alligator to somebody in another state. It's best to ship overnight to minimize the stress on the alligator. Make sure that you pack him safely for shipping, large alligators may require sedation.
