Recycling is one of the most popular ways to be friendlier to the environment. In some places, people are lucky enough to have the convenience of leaving their recyclable goods at the curb. In other places, people are hard at work to obtain the same convenience.

Start a petition in your town. A great deal of interest must be generated before it will attract the attention of local officials. Recruit friends and relatives, if necessary. Do as much footwork as is necessary to collect signatures.

Present the formally drafted and heftily supported petition to your mayor's office. Since a curb-side recycling program usually requires a measure of red tape and a good deal of city money, your initial argument must be a strong and persuasive one.

Employ the help of your local media to get your message across to a wider audience. Send information to local newspapers and radio stations stating that petitions have been filed to implement a curb-side recycling project in the community.

Educate the public. Create websites and flyers stating the vast importance of recycling and how it can improve the quality of your community.

Highlight the benefits and convenient aspects of curb-side recycling to your community. Most people agree that recycling is a grand idea but do not have the time or resources to bring materials to their local recycling plant. Curb-side recycling would eradicate that inconvenience and make recycling as easy as putting the trash out for the waste disposal companies.

Step6

Be as politically active as possible if your city opts to call for a vote on this proposition. Encourage everyone you know to get out and vote to implement curb-side recycling in your area. Take people to the voting booths if necessary. Be a campaign booster to get your message across.
