Check to see if the "V" shaped spring on your jewelery clasp is flattened or bent. If it is just flattened you may be able to fix it easily without breaking the spring. If it's bent, you might be better off replacing the jewelery clasp.

    • 2

Open up the "V" spring if your spring is flattened. Using your screwdriver, gently pry open the "V" spring just enough for it to catch on the box clasp. Go gently so you don't break the spring as you attempt to fix it.

    • 3

Use pliers to attempt to straighten a bent "V" spring. Be sure to use jewelery pliers if you are working on a precious metal or a priceless heirloom to fix it.

    • 4

Remove the box clasp if it has been too damaged. The spring might fail and you may loose your necklace or bracelet if it does. Use jump ring pliers to open up the jump rings that attach the clasp to your jewelery and remove the clasp from the jump ring.
