Keep your shrimp fresh while preparing them by keeping them in ice or very cold water.

    • 3

Rinse your shrimp in fresh water to clean them. Return your cleaned shrimp to the ice water until you are ready to cook them.

    • 4

Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel before cooking.

    • 5

Do not remove the shell when boiling or steaming them, this will assure you preserve the juices and natural flavors of the shrimp.

    • 6

To peel the shrimp, hold the shrimp firmly, use your thumbs, peel back the sides of the shell and yank the shell off. Pull off the tail and any shell or leg that has not been removed at this point. Remove the shell of the shrimp before eating it.

    • 7

De-vein the shrimp by using a small utility knife. Place a shallow cut along the back of the shrimp.

    • 8

Pull the vein out with your fingers once it is exposed.

    • 9

      Cook as desired.
