Step1
Wash your decoy thoroughly with a scrub brush. A cleanser like Simple Green or a citrus cleanser will work well.
Step2
Seal pellets holes with adhesives like Sportsman's Goop, Elmer's Polyurethane glue or Gorilla Glue. Allow the glue to set for the full amount of time specified by the manufacturer. This will help extend the decoy's life.
Step3
Use polypropylene rope to repair pellet holes in your goose decoy. Carefully set one end of the rope with a lighter and allow the rope drippings over the pellet holes. As the polypropylene dries, it forms a waterproof seal.
Step4
Repair cracks and pellet holes with a hot glue gun and hot glue. A hot glue gun and glue sticks are very economical and can be purchased at any hardware or craft store. The glue must be fully heated for it to work properly and effectively.
Step5
Heat a soldering iron to repair a goose decoy. Carefully melt the plastic of the decoy and, smearing it, fill the crack with the melted plastic. While the most effective method, it is also the one that requires the most care, as too much melted plastic can result in a ruined decoy.
Step6
Sand and prime the goose decoy, then paint it. Use a small brush or spray on the paint. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly before using it.
