Instructions

    • 1

Measure the trim. Hold a piece trim along the edge of the counter top where you want to start your job and use a pencil to mark on the back of the trim where you need to cut the trim to fit.

    • 2

Cut all the pieces to fit. Use a miter box with a fine tooth saw or power miter saw before you begin. Place the trim upside down when you cut, this will prevent splinters and rough edges on the front of the trim.

    • 3

Sand the cut edges and any rough spots then paint or stain the trim. Apply several coats of polyurethane for a durable surface especially if the trim will be installed around a sink.

    • 4

Drill pilot holes in the trim slightly smaller than the trim nail you use to prevent splitting.

    • 5

Apply a thin coat of wood glue to the back of the trim and nail in place with a trim hammer.

    • 6

Use a nail set to drive nails below the surface of the trim.

    • 7

Wipe a small amount of wood putty the same color as the trim into the nail holes with your finger.

    • 8

Allow the wood putty to dry then lightly sand and dab on polyurethane or stain to finish.

Tips & Warnings
