How to Fish From a Kayak

Kayak fishing is a bit of a cross between normal sport fishing and a ride in an amusement park. Picture yourself calmly floating along on the waves or in a peaceful cove and your line suddenly grows taunt and the pole tip bends in half. Things You'll Need

• Kayak of your choice
• Fishing pole
• Fish net

Instructions

1. Load your kayak into your vehicle's rack. Care must be taken to ensure that the rack or the kayak does not damage the vehicle. Be sure not to forget to tie the kayak down firmly to the roof.

2. Unload your kayak at the spot where you intend to fish or a suitable location to serve as a base camp for the fishing expedition. Place all your gear in the kayak. Many kayaks are equipped with pole holders molded into the body. Use the cubbyholes in the shell to store your other fishing supplies and food and drink for the trip.

3. Get into the kayak and make sure the seal is well fitted around you and makes a watertight seal. Make yourself comfortable before you get into deep water. Now situate the pole and make sure it is rigged before you leave.

4. Kayak to the selected spot you want to fish at and stow your paddle securely. Take your pole and cast your line for that big one. Just wait for that nibble, set the hook and wait for the ride.
