How to Join the Skull and Bones Society

The Skull and Bones Society, a secretive elite members-only group, was started at Yale University in 1832. Mystery has always surrounded it since its members are sworn to secrecy, and no one can admit what goes on in it. If you're interested in joining, follow these steps to join the Skull and Bones Society.

Instructions

    • 1

Enroll in Yale University. All Skull and Bones Society members are Yale seniors who are chosen at the end of their junior year for admission to the society.

    • 2

Distinguish yourself at Yale by becoming involved in student politics and leadership roles in any of the clubs. Good grades can't hurt either. Most of the society's members come from influential families and move on to influential positions in society after graduation.

    • 3

Acquaint yourself with Skull and Bones Society members. If you become friends with its members, it's more likely you'll be chosen to join.

    • 4

Know that Skull and Bones Society members were traditionally white males, but in recent years females have been allowed to join. The society has also become multicultural, containing members of different races.

    • 5

Realize that there's a lot of Dracula-like pomp and circumstance involved in the society's ceremonies and the society has even been accused of devil worship. Little is known about the society since its members are sworn to secrecy, and once you get in, you can't get out.

    • 6

Be aware that a requirement of the society's members is to divulge their deepest secrets and sexual history to other members in an hours-long session. It is said one purpose of the society is to forge deep bonds between its members.

Tips & Warnings

  • President George W. Bush, his father and his grandfather are former members of Skull and Bones. Senator John F. Kerry was also a member.
