Motorola introduced the PEBL cell phone in 2006 and functions in much the same way as the popular RAZR from the same manufacturer. The PEBL has an MP3 function so that you can make customized or downloaded ringtones and assign these to different people in your cell phone address book. Read on to learn how to make ringtones for the Motorola PEBL.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Account on a ringtones website
  • Downloadable software for ringtones on your computer

Step1
Examine the pre-loaded MP3 ringtones that come with the Motorola PEBL cell phone. There are about a dozen of these and what you want may be in there.
Step2
Check the website of your cell phone service provider for ringtones that you can download for free or for a small fee. The ones you want may be available from your provider.
Step3
Use the cell phone browser to access a ringtones website. Make sure the website supports the Motorola PEBL model. Not all websites support all models. Access a ringtones website by selecting "Menu," then selecting "Settings," then going to "Web Access" and entering the Internet address of the ringtones provider.
Step4
Make a ringtone with your computer. You need to download a simple program onto the computer for this purpose. Then customize a ringtone from a CD by following the prompts on the program.
Step5
Upload the custom ringtone from the laptop or desktop to your phone. This is usually done by sending yourself an SMS, or text, message with a link. Clicking on the link installs the ringtone on the Motorola PEBL.
Step6
Assign ringtones to people in the address book by using the "Edit" function in the address book and selecting the installed ringtone from the list available.

Tips & Warnings

  • Give the ringtone a recognizable name when prompted so that you can easily locate it on the PEBL after uploading.
  • Some online ringtone providers require you set up an account before uploading. This has to be done on a laptop or desktop computer. Keep track of the user name and password to enter on the cell phone browser.
  • Search for Xingtone software online to get desktop ringtone capability.
