How to Grill Seafood

For an alternative to hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill, try and grill seafood. Seafood is easy, it takes less time, is relatively healthy and it is delicious to eat. Entertain your guests' appetite with a yummy alternative to the same old same old on the grill. Read on to learn how grill seafood.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Marinade the seafood of your choice for only 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2

    Turn the grill on and set it to medium high heat.

  3. Step 3

    Be sure that grates are well cleaned by scraping them with a wired grill brush after the grill gets hot.

  4. Step 4

    Lightly oil the surface of the grill using a long handled basting brush. Dip the brush in vegetable oil to accomplish this step.

  5. Step 5

    Check the weight of the fish you are planning to grill and add 10 minutes of grilling time for each 1-inch of thickness the fish is. An example would be if the fish is 2 inches in thickness then you would grill it for 20 minutes.

  6. Step 6

    Grill the seafood on medium high for the time as listed in Step 5. Turn it once in the middle of grilling.

Tips & Warnings
  • Fish is done when it is opaque in color and flakes with a fork.
  • Use a grill basket or topper to cook shellfish.
  • Grill shellfish with the shells on. When the flesh gets white the shellfish is done.
  • Do not marinate seafood for any longer than 30 minutes or it will become too mushy to grill.
  • Be careful not to overcook your seafood.
