Synthetic wigs are very easy to care for and simple to style. You can have the same look every day with minimal time spent styling your hair. Synthetic wigs allow you to have fun and experiment with many different styles. They often appear lighter and even more natural looking than human hair wigs. Here's how to style a synthetic wig.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Brush the wig with a wig brush before washing or putting it on. Regular hair brushes can damage the fibers.

  2. Step 2

Wash the wig every 15 to 20 uses with a special shampoo made for synthetic wigs. Never use regular shampoo.

  3. Step 3

Squeeze the water from the wig gently. Never twist it or wring it out.

  4. Step 4

Allow your synthetic wig to dry on a wire form before styling. Don't comb it or brush it while wet to avoid breakage.

  5. Step 5

Shake the wig out to give it a bit more volume for a more natural look.

  6. Step 6

Use a comb or pick to tousle the strands of hair around your face and the crown of your head to make the hair fall in an attractive manner.

  7. Step 7

Separate the curls in a curly style wig with your fingers gently. Never use a brush or comb.

  8. Step 8

Spritz the wig with water from a spray bottle regularly throughout the day to maintain a fresh look and avoid static electricity.

  9. Step 9

Get a whole new look by taking your wig to a professional wig stylist. They can transform the wig to a new style without damaging it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never use heat styling tools to style a synthetic wig. They will cause the wig fibers to melt. Even leaning over a hot oven can damage your wig.
  • Never use products made for human hair on a synthetic wig. Use wig styling products only.
