A great way to get more business or more traffic for your website is to write a lead generation email. This type of email entices people. You want to bring them to your business or your website where you can sell your products and services. Use these tips to write a lead generation email.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have a clear plan. Know what you expect to gain or get from the email. You will know what to write in the email if your purpose is clear.

  2. Step 2

Know your audience or customers. Research their wants and their needs so that your email offers a solution to a problem. Know who will receive the email. You want the reader to be the user of the product or service.

  3. Step 3

Use a friendly tone. Make the email sound like it was written for each individual customer personally. Change your email slightly for each different set of readers.

  4. Step 4

Describe your service or product in detail. Use a short bulleted list that the customer can scan. Tell why the person needs your product or service.

  5. Step 5

Offer something free. You want to give the customer something useful like a how to article or a discount coupon. Know your product and your customer so you know how to entice the customer to your site or business.

  6. Step 6

Keep the email letter short and simple. Most people get too many emails and will delete a really long email. Your goal is to include just enough information to lure the customer to your products and services.

  7. Step 7

Tell the reader to do something like visit your website, call your business or email you. Make sure you include your contact information and a link to your website.

  8. Step 8

Use a tracking device to track the emails. You want to see who reads the emails and then visits your site or your business.

Tips & Warnings
  • Buy a marketing list. This list will give you email addresses of people who would be interest in your products and services.
