With current population growth on the rise, and the majority of the population aged, nurses are in demand more than ever. Getting the right set of credentials is crucial. Although many nursing programs exist, many are hard to get in to, the curriculum is tough and beyond the college degree, a nurse must pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Read on to learn how to study for the NCLEX to successfully get your certification and an entry-level nursing job.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know that the NCLEX is a standardized exam used to establish a nursing candidate's preparedness for entry-level work. Find that the NCLEX tests for client-needs preparedness, such as health promotion, protection and safety as well as psychosocial and physiological integrity.

  2. Step 2

Contact your individual state board for nursing to submit an application for licensing before taking the NCLEX. Realize you must meet certain criteria before you can take the NCLEX. Register for the exam once you have met eligibility requirements.

  3. Step 3

Prepare for the exam. Find test prep companies, such as "Kaplan" or college and university programs like the "NCLEX-RN Review Course" at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Nursing to study for the NCLEX.

  4. Step 4

Take prep classes online via websites, such as "Hurst Review Services," or study for the NCLEX independently by ordering NCLEX materials from websites like "NCLEX Flashcard Study System."
