There are some people who absolutely love doing the mundane chore of vacuuming--it is one of those unavoidable chores that we all must do. There is a science to doing it correctly the first time, which will insure that you won't have to spend your entire day vacuuming your house. Read on to learn how to vacuum.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Know the needs of your home and do your research before you go out and purchase a new vacuum cleaner.

  2. Step 2

    Plug the vacuum into an outlet that will allow your vacuum to reach the maximum amount of floor space.

  3. Step 3

    Clear the floor that you are attempting to clean by moving lighter furniture and removing any objects that are in your line of vacuuming.

  4. Step 4

    Pick up the dirt and debris off the floor by moving the vacuum back and forth along the floor that you are trying to clean.

  5. Step 5

    Start at the far side of the room, farthest from the door, this way you do not leave footprints on your freshly vacuumed floor.

  6. Step 6

    Set the vacuum to "Carpet" for carpeted floors or "Floor" to clean bare floors.

  7. Step 7

    Store the vacuum somewhere out of the way when you are finished cleaning your floors.

Tips & Warnings
  • Change the vacuum bag or empty the canister regularly.
