Make Ice Cream Without An Ice Cream Maker

  1. Step 1

Select your favorite ice cream recipe and gather all the ingredients you will need to make your ice cream mixture.

  2. Step 2

Choose a mixing bowl that is very wide because you will be using it for both the churning and freezing process. Pour your ice cream mixture into the bowl.

  3. Step 3

Refrigerate for about two hours, then put the bowl in the freezer for approximately 1/2 hour.

  4. Step 4

Check the mixture at the 1/2 hour mark, it should have started to freeze at this point. The edges should be getting hard but the middle should be mushy still.

  5. Step 5

Take the bowl out of the freezer and beat the ice cream until it is smooth and creamy. Then put it back in the freezer for another 1/2 hour.

  6. Step 6

Repeat Step 5 two more times.

  7. Step 7

Put the mixture back into the freezer until it is ready to eat. This will be approximately another 30 minutes.

  8. Make Ice Cream Using Sandwich Bags

  9. Step 1

Choose two Ziploc bags that are sealable. Be sure that you choose two different sized bags.

  10. Step 2

Gather all of the ingredients you will need to make your favorite ice cream recipe.

  11. Step 3

Put the ice cream mixture into the smallest bag that you have. Seal the bag.

  12. Step 4

Place the small bag into the larger bag and then place rock salt on either side of the small bag. Seal the larger bag.

  13. Step 5

Make sure that the bags are sealed. You do not want either of them to leak.

  14. Step 6

Get the children involved. Have them roll the bags around on a table for approximately 20 minutes, make it a game so that they do not get too bored. Watch their eyes get bigger as they watch the mixture become ice cream right before their eyes.

  15. Step 7

Empty the ice cream out of the bag into a bowl and serve.
