Using EarthLink VolP allows your phone signal to travel over the Internet, instead of using the standard phone lines. The cost is less and you get more features when you set up the system. Get use to using EarthLink VolP by following these steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Order service from EarthLink. You will receive a free device that changes the analog signal from your phone to a digital signal over the Internet. You have to have this device to use EarthLink VoIP.

  2. Step 2

Install the Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) correctly. ATA connects the phone and broadband modem or router together which routes the phone service through the Internet.

  3. Step 3

Take your phone and dial your number. The call goes over the Internet line but makes the connection to any phone whether analog or digital.

  4. Step 4

Talk on the phone. If you have call waiting, the call waiting signal will indicated you have someone calling in on your phone. Simply do the usual actions to take the second phone call.

  5. Step 5

Save money with one flat fee for long distance and local calls that cost the same. You can even cancel your long distance plan and keep the calls on Voice Over IP telephone service.

  6. Step 6

Notice while you talk on the phone that the sound quality is much better. Digital signals surpass analog by far.

  7. Step 7

Contact Earthlink any time you have a difficulty with VoIP. You can go to the EarthLink website for a help link.
