How to Open a Comcast Email Account

Once you have chosen Comcast for your Internet provider and email program, it's time to open a Comcast email account and start sending mail. Opening your Comcast email account involves certain basic steps common to most mail programs. Follow these simple guidelines and you will be on your way to sending and receiving mail.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • Microsoft Windows 98 or higher
  • Macintosh OS X (v10.1 or higher)
  • Latest version of Outlook Express or Netscape
  • Comcast broadband internet service
  • Comcast webmail
  1. Step 1

    Verify that Comcast Broadband Internet service is available in your area.

  2. Step 2

    Set up a Comcast account and connect to the Internet.

  3. Step 3

    Open up your Comcast webmail program or whatever mail program you are using so you can open a Comcast email account.

  4. Step 4

    Select "Tools" and then "Accounts." Click "Add," select "Email Account" and hit "Next."

  5. Step 5

    Enter your name in the "Real Name" field the way you want it to appear when someone receives email from you (i.e., Mary Smith). Add your email address in the "Return Address" field.

  6. Step 6

    Enter "mail.comcast.net" in the "POP Incoming Server" field and "smtp.comcast.net" in the "Outgoing Server field."

  7. Step 7

    Log in to your Comcast email account by entering your Username and Password.

  8. Step 8

    Perform a test run by sending and/or downloading an email.
