How to Find Ways to Honor Parents at a Wedding

While weddings are a special time for everyone in your family, it can also be a bittersweet day for your parents. There are ways that you can honor your mom and dad that will leave no dry eyes in the room. Your parents will be touched by the time you spent to say thanks for being my mother or father and your guests will leave the wedding feeling the love of a child for her parents. Instructions

1. Plan your processional song to be the same as the one your mom walked down.

2. Have two extra roses in your bouquet and when you arrive at the front of the aisle give one to your mom and one to the groom's mom.

3. Before the ceremony begins have someone put a personalized handkerchief and a rose at both of the mothers' seats. You might want to include a special personal note of thanks with the rose and the handkerchief.

4. Duplicate your mother's wedding bouquet. You will have to look through her wedding albums to find a picture to give to the florist, so that it can be recreated.

5. Dedicate your bouquet to your mother instead of doing a "bouquet toss." Give a little speech about someone very special in your life, without mentioning who it is and then at the end tell everyone who it is and dedicate the bouquet to your mom.

6. Include framed pictures from your parents' weddings at your cake table.

7. Incorporate a family heirloom into your ceremony.

8. Duplicate the decorations or the cake top used by your or your fiancé's parents at their wedding.

9. Include a special poem about family into your wedding ceremony.

10. Have your officiate include the names of your and your fiancé's parents in a special prayer during your ceremony.
