Although it first started in California, skateboarding has become a well-loved sport across America. You don't have to live on the West Coast to find a vert ramp, nor do you have to take risks in an empty swimming pool. Skateboarding parks are turning up everywhere. Find vert ramps in cities, the suburbs and in neighborhoods near you. Read on to learn how to choose a vert location.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin looking online for vert locations near you. Try websites, such as Skateboard Parks or Skate Log to locate a skateboard park nearby. Choose a vert location that's legit and provides security. Check it out before you skate there. Know that skateboard parks are just now being built in some areas.

  2. Step 2

Join a vert club. Get involved with serious vert enthusiasts and visit vert locations members use. Know that some skateboarders have their own vert ramps. Chose a vert location on your own too if one is nearby, so you have other options for skateboarding.

  3. Step 3

Check with your city or town to find out if there's a skateboard park locally or if city officials and planners will build one any time soon. Help promote the new skateboard park if your city is on the fence about building one. Make appointments with city officials and attend city counsel meetings when they're scheduled to discuss the issue.

  4. Step 4

Get a skatepark built in your town or city if it needs one, or if no one has plans to build one any time soon. Market your idea and solicit funding to develop a skateboarding park. Ask your friends to help you with the project. Visit the "Tony Hawk Foundation" website to find out how to get one built in your hometown.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take precautions against injury--wear safety gear at all times, such as a skateboard helmet, knee pads and elbow pads.
