make ORIGINAL ITALIAN TIRAMISU

By reading this article you'll learn how to make AWESOME tiramisu with a step-by-step recipe.

This is the ORIGINAL TIRAMISU recipe we use in Italy. Literally, Tiramisu means “pick me up”, therefore the ingredients are meant to give energy.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Buy the following Ingredients: 1 box of lady fingers cookies (approx. 45 cookies) 2 cups of brewed coffee 2 cups of mascarpone cheese 5 eggs 1 ½ cup of sugar (confectioners’ sugar preferred
  1. Step 1

Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until the mixture is a very light yellow.

  2. Step 2

Separately, beat the egg whites until they are fluffy and firm.

  3. Step 3

Mix the egg yolk and sugar with the mascarpone cheese.

  4. Step 4

Carefully fold the egg whites into the mixture. This should lead to a nice and creamy mixture.

  5. Step 5

Dip the ladyfingers cookies one by one (very quickly) in the coffee and lay them in a rectangular or square baking dish. Add a layer of the creamy mixture and sprinkle the cocoa powder. To obtain a nice looking cocoa powder top, use a mesh strainer and stir the powder lightly with a teaspoon .

  6. Step 6

Make a second layer exactly the same as the first one.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes and ENJOY.

Optional: add 1 tbsp rum or Amaretto to the coffee for a light alcohol flavor.

on 1/4/2009 Concerning dipping the lady finger cookies into coffee, the trick to prevent them from being too wet is just dip them 1/2 deep. The coffee will then slowly dissolve into the second half of the cookie which is at first dry. Anyway ... good recepy and even better desert.
