Step1
Have a think about all the dresses and styles you've loved in the past. Begin from when you were a small child all the way to now.
Step2
Know and understand how your figure works. What are your best features? What do you want to accentuate? After all, you want your unique creation to be a flattering extension of all that you are.
Step3
Cut out the styles you like from magazines. Search on the Internet for period costume pieces, or period fashion. Locate those items that have made you think: "I've always wanted to wear something like that!"
Step4
Analyse your pictures. What aspects of each dress do you really like? You don't want to just replicate what has already been done. You are making something new, unique, and a part of you.
Step5
Trace the areas that you like onto paper. You might take straps from one dress. The style of the skirt from another. The bust area from another. Just remember that when you are combining all the aspects you'll want to have some continuity. Although, at this stage don't worry too much about this because the dressmaker will know how to bring it all together.
Step6
Colour the areas of your dress with your preferred colours and textures. Go to fabric shops and get samples and ideas. Experiment. Be Bold. Create a couple of options if you so desire.
Step7
Take your design to your dressmaker. Talk through your ideas and how she might bring all your favourite aspects together. Be open to her advice and expertise. Enjoy the process of creating something that is unique.

Be happy with your choice and just shine. You are a beautiful princess, after all.
