Step 1
Determine your travel dates for the SXSW festivals. Extending over 10 days, South by Southwest happens every spring in Austin with separate dates for the individual music, film and interactive festivals. Preview available rooms at the SXSW website (see Resources below). You can sort the participating hotels by price, distance from scheduled events and name.

Log in to your SXSW shopping cart account using your login and password created at the time of your registration. If you have not registered already, you may also register and book your hotel room at the same time.

Provide your contact information, including a telephone number at which you can be reached during the dates of the festival. Your email or fax number should be provided in order to receive reservation confirmation from the SXSW housing desk and the hotel.

Indicate your first and second choice in hotels. Depending on how early you book your room as well as the number of blocks reserved in a specific hotel by the housing program, you may not be able to stay at your first choice.

Step 5
Select the type of room you wish to stay in and provide the names of all guests who will be staying with you. The SXSW Housing Program gives preference for double rooms to parties consisting of more than one participant.

Step 6
Secure your reservation through a valid credit card. If you are making reservations for someone else with your card, he may be asked to provide a credit card issued under his name as well.

Expect confirmation of your reservation through the housing desk within 24 to 48 hours.
