How to Use the SXSW Housing Program
Each year, over 10,000 people descend upon Austin, Texas to be a part of one of the largest music festivals in America--South by Southwest, or SXSW. Getting a room close to the action of this colorful music scene is key. The SXSW housing program was created to help attendees make the most of their festival experiences.

Determine the part of the SXSW festival for which you wish to register. You can register for all of the festival or only for those parts of the festival in which you wish to participate. Get your registration materials and fees to the SXSW festival registration desk before the deadline. This typically occurs 1 to 2 weeks in advance of the festival dates.

Preview hotels affiliated with the SXSW festival. You should consider accommodations by price, location and proximity to various SXSW events such as Music Fest and the Film and Interactive festivals.

Use the SXSW website to book your room (see Resources below). You will need your login and password to make use of the SXSW Housing Program online.

Create a document to fax or email to the housing desk at SXSW if you choose not to book your hotel online. You can also call the housing desk to make reservations at the number listed on the SXSW website.

Include your name and contact information in your request for housing through SXSW. This should include your phone number as well as your fax number and email.

Select two hotels in which you would like to book a room and rank them by your first and second choice, as required by the SXSW Housing Program.

Include your check in and check out dates in your request.

Specify what kind of room you would prefer to book. You should indicate whether you require a single or double room, as well as whether you require a non-smoking or smoking room.
