One of the oldest home remedies for the relief of back pain is garlic, which can be implemented as a rubbing oil or taken orally to strengthen the immune system and facilitate healing.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Garlic cloves
  • Oil, such as mustard, coconut or sesame
  • Frying pan
Step1
Consume 2 to 3 cloves of garlic every morning when you wake up, which can help to bolster your immune system naturally. If the idea of eating this much garlic is unpleasant to you, take a garlic capsule or supplement. However, taking garlic in this fashion may slow its absorption into the bloodstream.
Step2
Prepare garlic-based oil to use as a liniment for your back pain. Fry 10 to 12 cloves of garlic in an oil base created from 3 to 4 tbsp. of coconut, sesame or mustard oil. These oils have a higher degree of natural lubrication and are more readily absorbed into your skin.
Step3
Roast the garlic in the oil until the cloves turn a rich, golden brown. Remove the frying pan from the fire and allow it to cool down.
Step4
Massage the oil into your back vigorously. Concentrate the majority of the garlic-oil mixture on the area that is the most painful, but also apply some of the oil along the spine, from the nape of the neck to your tailbone.
Step5
Allow the oil to remain on your back for at least 3 hours. After this time, you may take a gentle, warm-water bath to remove the oil from your skin. Avoid using heavy soaps, which may remove much of the oil that has been absorbed into your skin.
Step6
Repeat this process once a day for at least 15 days or until the back pain has completely subsided. See your doctor to treat your back pain if the use of garlic does not achieve results.
Step7
Use additional garlic in your cooking during this time period. Most herbalists agree that there is no such thing as too much garlic.

Tips & Warnings

  • Large doses of vitamin C can also be helpful in accelerating the healing. Use anywhere from 2 to 6 grams of vitamin C per day for best results.
  • Back pain may be the result of a serious medical condition, such as a prostate disorder, kidney disease or arthritis. See a doctor if you experience back pain for longer than 15 days
