Things You'll Need:
- Fresh lavender plants, including stems and flowers
- Ribbon
- Lavender essential oil
- Cedarwood essential oil
- Carrier oil
- Rope pet collar or bandana
-
Step 1
Gather a large bunch of fresh lavender flowers that contain both the stems and flowers of the plant. You will need 18 to 26 stems for each wand or ornament.
-
Step 2
Measure out 2 yards of ribbon for each bunch of stems. Use ribbon that is at least 1/2-inch wide. Coordinate the ribbon color with your décor, such as the color of your bedroom.
-
Step 3
Tie one end of the ribbon in a knot right below the flowers. Let the rest of the ribbon hang down with the stems.
-
Step 4
Turn the bunch of lavender upside down so that the flowers are at the bottom and the stems are bent over them.
-
Step 5
Find the ribbon from the middle of the bundle of stems and pull it out. Weave it through the stems, using 2 stems at a time. Make the weaving as tight as you can so the flowers will be safely tucked inside the cage you are creating, without falling out.
-
Step 6
Wrap the ribbon around the bunch of lavender once you have woven down to the bottom. Tie it in a bow.
-
Step 7
Place the wand ornament in various places around your house, such as your closet, in your windows or tucked into bureau drawers. The scent will freshen your clothing and act as a natural moth repellent.
-
Step 8
Tighten your lavender moth repellent wand periodically. As the flowers and stems dry, the ribbon will become looser. Untie the bow, pull to tighten the weaving and retie it.
-
Step 1
Add lavender and cedarwood essential oils to a carrier oil. Carrier oils can be purchased at many grocery stores and help deliver the essential oil to the skin. Almond is a popular carrier oil choice.
-
Step 2
Shake the oil mixture well before applying to your flea infested pet.
-
Step 3
Spread the lavender oil concoction on your pet's skin as a natural way to get rid of fleas.
-
Step 4
Use a rope collar or a bandana to make a flea collar for your dog. Rub the essential oils on the collar before putting it on your dog.
