Athlete's foot is a fungal infection located on the surface of the skin on the feet. This condition can be caused by several different fungi, but a traditional home remedy of garlic can treat it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fresh garlic cloves
  • Water basin
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Garlic oil
  • Cotton balls or washcloth
Step1
Buy several cloves of fresh garlic or look for garlic supplements or products labeled allium sativum. You can usually find the best selection at a whole foods or health food store.
Step2
Take the garlic cloves home and prepare a footbath. Use a tub of water big enough for your feet to fit in and fill it with warm water. Add just a splash of rubbing alcohol.
Step3
Crush 2 to 4 cloves of garlic until it is very fine. Add the crushed garlic to the footbath. Soak your feet in this for about 30 minutes. Put a towel under the water basin and be careful not to spill when you put your feet in the water.
Step4
Use garlic oil applied directly to the infected area to treat athlete's foot. Prepare garlic oil by mincing several cloves and placing them in a jar. Add enough olive oil to cover the garlic completely. Cover the mixture and allow it to sit for about 3 days, giving the jar a good shake a few times per day.
Step5
Soak a cotton ball in the garlic oil and then rub it directly onto the skin. A washcloth will also work just fine. Repeat this process twice per day until the athlete's foot clears up.
