Tips & Warnings
  • When treating diarrhea with chamomile teas, consider using white sugar as a sweetener.
  • While honey and brown sugar are commonly used to sweeten chamomile teas, they can actually make stomach discomfort worse.
  • Because of its soothing properties, chamomile tea is commonly used as a sleep aide. If you experience unwanted drowsiness while treating your diarrhea with chamomile, you might need to find another remedy.
  • If you're currently on blood thinning medication, you should not take chamomile. This plant is known to cause blood thinning, and may interact with your existing medication to cause anemia.
  • People with known allergies to plants like ragweed should not come in contact with chamomile in any form. Ragweed and chamomile share many biological features and those who are allergic to one are usually unable to tolerate the other.
