Instructions

    • 1

Fill a small basin large enough to fit both your feet with warm water. Add enough water to completely cover your feet up to your ankle on each leg. Make sure the water is hot enough to stay warm for about 10 to 15 minutes, but be careful not to burn your feet.

    • 2

Stir about 1 tbsp. of powdered ginger into the water. Wait for the ginger powder to dissolve, and then mix with your hands if necessary. Add more ginger powder if you want. You don't need more than 1/4 cup to fully experience the benefits of ginger.

    • 3

Relax and enjoy the foot bath. Play soothing music or read a book while you rest your feet in the ginger bath. Light candles, dim the lights in the room and concentrate on the soothing effects of the bath.

    • 4

Soak your feet in the foot bath for at least 15 minutes. Your skin may become slightly wrinkled.

    • 5

Lay a thick towel out on the ground next to the basin to create a soft place for your feet to dry after the foot bath.

    • 6

Gently pat your feet dry with the ends of the towel.

    • 7

Sit for a few minutes before rising and putting weight on your feet again.

    • 8

Take a full ginger bath as an alternative to a foot bath. A full bath helps the body perspire and release toxins through the skin. It also offers relief to muscles throughout the body rather than focusing exclusively on the feet.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you give your child a foot bath, reduce the amount of ginger.

  • Some people may be allergic to the ginger plant. Stop using ginger immediately if you develop an allergic reaction, such as a rash or swelling. Contact your doctor in the event of an allergic reaction.

  • Ginger foot baths may not be appropriate for children. Consult with your child's doctor before giving your child any type of ginger bath.
