Remember Bill Cosby's skit about the perfectly styled woman who got on the airplane with her young son--shouted "Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey" the entire flight and by the time she exited the plane her hair was frazzled, suit wrinkled, and she looked exhausted? Traveling with kids need not be as daunting an experience as it may seem.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A duffel bag
  • Items for care of child
  • Extra ,low sugar snacks and drinks
  • Any medication child may require
  • Entertainment items,reading books,washable markers,coloring books,small toys,a portable dvd player is excellent
Step1
For babies and younger children, try to plan the trip in the evening or at night. That way maybe they will sleep for most of the trip.
Step2
Have discussions with verbal children beforehand about trip. Tell them what to expect and how long it will take. If you are using public transportation, discuss consideration for other passengers.
Step3
Try not to feed child heavy foods before trip so they won't get motion sickness.
Step4
On car trips plan to stop often. Everyone can get out and stretch.
Step5
Play games like: counting all the red cars ,all the trucks. This is also educational for the children. Also,"what color is that sign","what shape"?
Step6
All kids love music. Purchase sing-along cds, or just sing with them.
Step7
On a plane trip don't be afraid to ask the stewardess for help if baby is fussy or kids get restless.
Step8
Make travel an opportunity to create happy memories. Be camera ready. Use a video recorder camera if available.

Tips & Warnings
