To make really great French toast there is one ingredient that most cooks are not aware of. This tasty ingredient makes up the vast difference between mediocre French toast and truly fabulous French toast.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Texas toast
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla
  • Melted vanilla ice cream
  • Butter

How to Make Really Great French Toast

  1. Step 1

Take a half cup of your favorite vanilla ice cream and allow it to sit until completely melted.

  2. Step 2

Beat three eggs in a glass dish. Then add a half teaspoon of vanilla extract to the eggs and beat until mixed.

  3. Step 3

Now for the secret ingredient. Pour in the melted ice cream and beat mixture until it is well mixed.

  4. Step 4

Now add a slice of Texas toast and allow it to soak in the egg mixture, turning it once so both sides will be soaked.

  5. Step 5

In the meanwhile, place three pats of butter on a heated griddle or in pan and allow the butter to melt, making sure the surface is well covered with butter.

  6. Step 6

Place the soaked Texas toast on griddle and brown to a toasty brown on each side.

  7. Step 7

Remove from the griddle and set on a plate. Add your favorite syrup or a good sprinkle of powdered sugar.

  8. Step 8

Eat this great French toast with joy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with fresh strawberries for an extra tasty treat.
  • Don't allow bread to soak too long.
  • Don't allow the butter to scorch in the pan.

on 12/7/2007 Oh yum! I love French toast. Mmmmmm. With real maple syrup. Or, try a little lemon juice (just a little) and some powdered sugar. - Well, I guess I know what I'm having for breakfast. I'll try this recipe.
