Things You'll Need:
- Pencil
- Block print (potato or sponge)
- Bowl
- Water
- Fabric paint
- Knife
- Iron
- Linens - tablecloth, napkins or nice hand towels. This works best on smooth fabrics like linen or cotton
-
Step 1
Iron the linens you are going to use.
-
Step 2
Take inspiration from nature--leaves, chestnuts, berries and other organic elements make adorable and elegant block prints. Draw out the images (about 2" for a napkin or towel, and larger for a tablecloth) Cut the shapes out of a sponge or potato so that you have a "stamp."
-
Step 3
Dip your stamp in paint. I recommend using the stamp about 4" apart and creating a boarder on tablecloths and maybe doing the center or corner for napkins. Place the shapes around the linens. You can also alternate colors of paint for a layered look. Just wait for each stamp print to dry before you layer on the next one. Allow to dry and you're done.

on 2/21/2008 I also thought about my boring beige curtains when I read this article. I think I'll use this idea to funk them up!
