How to Remove Grease Stains From Your Clothes

You can get rid of grease stains from your clothing with soap and detergent.

It's a common mishap. Right in the middle of a meal, some greasy food falls off your fork onto your clothing, leaving a greasy spot that looks like it's permanent. But don't throw the clothing away. You can get the stain out and get your clothing looking like new once again.

Step 1

Apply a mild liquid dishwashing soap directly to the grease stain. Rub it into the stain with your fingers. Let it sit for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Wash the clothing in the washing machine. Along with your regular laundry detergent, add 1/4 cup of the dishwashing liquid to the wash load.

Step 3

Inspect the clothing after washing it. If the stain is gone, dry the clothing as normal. If the stain remains, move on the the next step.

Step 4

Pour a little bit of shampoo onto the grease stain and repeat Steps 1 to 3.
