It's a common mishap. Right in the middle of a meal, some greasy food falls off your fork onto your clothing, leaving a greasy spot that looks like it's permanent. But don't throw the clothing away. Things You'll Need

  • Liquid dishwashing soap
  • Laundry detergent
  • Shampoo

Instructions

      Apply a mild liquid dishwashing soap directly to the grease stain. Rub it into the stain with your fingers. Let it sit for 30 minutes.

      Wash the clothing in the washing machine. Along with your regular laundry detergent, add 1/4 cup of the dishwashing liquid to the wash load.

      Inspect the clothing after washing it. If the stain is gone, dry the clothing as normal. If the stain remains, move on the the next step.

      Pour a little bit of shampoo onto the grease stain and repeat Steps 1 to 3.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't place stained clothes in the dryer. The heat will set the stain.
