How to Peel A Pomegranate

Peeling a pomegranate, while rewarding in the end, can be messy, sticking and more trouble than it's worth. Easily peel poms with a few quick tricks.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Pomegranate
• Knife
• Bowl of Cold Water

1. Chop off either end of the pomegranate, then slice it into two pieces.
2. Submerge into the cold water and remove the seeds. They'll sink to the bottom - the pith and rind will float to the top.
3. Scoop out the pith and rind to discard. Drain the seeds. Viola. A peeled pomegranate with much less mess.

Tips & Warnings

• Do the cutting on a plastic, non-porous cutting board.
• Store seeds in an air tight container in your fridge.
• Pomegranate juice stains just about anything it can land on. Don't wear white while peeling a pom.
