Tired of unsightly blackheads? Clogged pores and bad skin? Here is a simple home remedy to give your skin a deep cleanse, unclog pores and purify your face.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Pot or bowl
  • water
  • stove or kettle
  • towel
  • lavender essential oil

Step1
Heat water in a pot on the stove or in a kettle.
Step2
While water is heating, gently cleanse your face as normal.
Step3
once water is boiling, remove from heat. You can place pot of water on a table or pour the water out of kettle into a bowl and place that on table. (use a hot pad underneath so you don't burn the table).
Step4
Add a few drops of lavender essential oil. You can also use dried lavender. Sometimes I like to also add peppermint, lemongrass or rosemary. Let water set so it cools off a bit.
Step5
Lean over the pot/bowl with face a few inches away. If the steam is too hot, move your face farther away from water or wait for it to cool off more (but is still steaming).
Step6
Place a towel over your head to create a tent over you and the steam.
Step7
steam your face for at least 5-10 minutes. Turn your face side to side occasionally, moving yoru face around so it all gets some good steam.
Step8
When you are finished, rinse your face off with warm water and then again with cool water and pat dry. Rinsing will wash away any impurities on the surface and the cool rinse will help to close the pores.
Step9
You may then use your regular facial cream.

Tips & Warnings

  • I have large pores and noticible blackheads and I do this regularly to get my skin looking clean, smooth and pure.
  • Drinking a lot of water will help your skin look more pure and supple.
  • Doing this with peppermint is also great when your sinuses get clogged.
  • Avoid greasy mosturizers
  • This is very relaxing and theraputic so enjoy the fragrent vapors and relax as the steam draws out the impurities from your face.
  • Let the steam cool off a bit before putting your face in it.
  • When moving the pot or bowl with hot water, use an oven mit to make sure you don't burn yourself. Don't touch the hot water.
  • ocassionally, you may break out a bit after a deep cleanse as the impurities make their way out of your skin, but if you do this regularly (at least twice a month), that shouldn't be a problem and your skin will thank you!
