How to Copy Pictures From Your Digital Camera

After you take pictures using a digital camera, you can use the Scanner and Camera Wizard to copy the pictures from the camera to your computer. This allows you to edit and print the pictures, as well as add the pictures to documents or e-mail messages. You need a Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) compatible digital camera to use the Scanner and Camera Wizard. Check the documentation that came with your camera to determine if it is WIA compatible. If your came is not digital camera is not WIA compatible, you can use the software that came with the camera to copy pictures to your computer. To copy pictures from a digital camera, the camera must be installed, connected to your computer and turned on. You may also need to set the camera to a specific mode, such as the Connect mode, before you can copy pictures to your computer. By default, the Scanner and Camera Wizard will copy all the pictures on your digital camera to your computer. If you want to copy only specific pictures, you can select the pictures.

Step1
On your computer please do this:
Click on start. > Click All Programs to view a list of the programs on your computer. > Click on Accessories.
Step2
Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.
The Scanner and Camera Wizard appears. Note: The wizard may start automatically after you connect a digital camera to your computer. There is a box that will have the name of the digital camera that is installed on your computer.
Click Next to continue.
This area will displays the pictures stored on your digital camera. Windows will copy each picture that displays a check mark. To add([ ]) or remove ([ ]) a check mark form a picture, click the check box ([ ]) for the picture.
To quickly deselect or select all the pictures, click Clear All or Select All.
This area indicates the number of selected pictures and the total number of pictures.
Step3
Click Next to continue.
You can click Back to return to a previous step and change your selections.

Tips & Warnings

  • Install It!
  • If Windows does not automatically install a digital camera you connect to your computer, click start, select Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware and then click Scanners and Cameras. In the Scanners and Cameras window, click the Add an imaging device link and then follow the instructions in the Scanner and Camera Installation Wizard.
  • Delete It!
  • You can delete a picture from your digital camera when using the Scanner and Camera Wizard. After performing Step 1 and part of Step 2 up to Click Next to continue, click the advanced users only link. In the window that appears, click the picture you want to delete, click the Delete this file link and then click Yes to confirm the deletion. You cannot retrieve a picture after you delete it from your camera.
