Going to a spa is a great way to treat yourself. Massages, pedicures and body treatments are all lovely, but you don't need to spend money to enjoy some of them. You can make your own body scrub in with ingredients you have in your own home, many of which you can find in your own kitchen. Pamper yourself!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic container or bowl
  • Olive oil or mineral oil
  • Essential oil or orange, lime or lemon juice (optional)
  1. Step 1
    Plastic containers

    Plastic containers

Find a plastic container or bowl. You can probably use a container you already have at home, such as an old jar from a previous product or a plastic food storage container.

  2. Step 2
    Mineral oil

    Mineral oil

Take 1/2 cup of mineral oil or olive oil and place it in the bowl/container.

  3. Step 3
    Salt

    Salt

Sprinkle in either salt or sugar (coarse or fine) into the oil and mix until you get the consistency you would like. (For gentler scrubs, use fine sugar or salt but coarse for a more vigorous clean.)

  4. Step 4
    Essential oil

    Essential oil

Add 1 to 2 drops of any essential oil, or 1 to 2 drops of the juice of a lime, lemon or orange, if preferred, into the oil and salt/sugar mixture. (This step is optional.)

  5. Step 5
    Bathtub

Hop in the shower or bath and enjoy! Be sure to rinse well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful not to get any in your eyes, as this can irritate or burn.
  • If you use a strong essential oil in your mixture, such as peppermint or eucalyptus and you make your own body scrub in a plastic container, the plastic container will absorb the minty odors. Never reuse such a container for food.
  • Never use more than a couple drops of essential oil. It is quite concentrated and too much can actually make you feel ill to breath all that in.
