Copying information to another hard drive is easy following these few simple steps without extra software.

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows O/S
  1. Step 1

    Connect external hard drive the proper external port of your computer.

  2. Step 2

    Then on your computer screen, go to the start menu and click my computer. Look for your hard drive name.

  3. Step 3

    Open the files that you would like to transfer/copy to the external hard drive.

  4. Step 4

    Highlight the file. Right click on the selected files and click "copy".

  5. Step 5

    Click on the window of where your hard drive is located and open. WHen you open the file for your hard drive, right click "paste".

  6. Step 6

    Repeat until all files are transferred.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to be extra careful not to accidentally delete your information.
  • If you drag and drop your files, some files might not copy onto the hard drive.
