Step 1
Compose an Internet portfolio. This can either be a blog or website where you display all the links to your work. You should also have some samples available for view on this site. Your blog or website is a great place to promote yourself.

Step 2
A great place to start building your portfolio is Helium.com or Searchwarp.com (see Resources below). You can even write one article and copy and paste it into lots of free article databases, but the goal is to have a few out there.

Step 3
Once you have three or four writing samples at different sources, you are ready to find writing jobs. Some places to look are Indeed.com, Sunoasis.com and Craigslist.com.

Step 4
The last step is timing. Writing jobs go fast, you must be consistently looking and always applying. Many website owners are looking for writers, so one job can lead to many once they know and trust your work.
