Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Directory service
- Co-registration software
Step1
Clarify Co-Registration
Explain clearly to your partner what co-registration is when you present the plan. Everyone is not familiar about the tactic. Clarify that you are offering a barter deal – not a purchase of subscribers. Suggest an initial trial month to discover how many subscribers express interest in the two newsletters.
Step2
Work Referrals
Swinging the door into a prospective partner is accomplished much more smoothly through a current co-registration partner. Explore whether your prospect is already participating in co-reg activities with any of your own present partners. If so, just ask your existing partner to provide contact information and to introduce you.
Step3
Prepare a Cold Email Campaign
If no appropriate referrals exist, set up a cold email campaign. For small companies, the Owner/President holds the power to agree to co-reg. In larger corporations, contact the Marketing Director. Create an email which presents your subscribers as highly qualified and valuable to their organization.
Step4
Place the Purpose
Determine exactly what defines a valuable subscriber for your partner by identifying their newsletter purpose. If the ezine goal is to sell advertising space, you must show in detail how your co-reg subscribers are able to increase advertising revenues. If the newsletter exists to generate sales leads and up selling opportunities, you now need to present your own subscribers as potential purchasers.
Step5
Make it easy.
Simplify the co-registration contact. Provide your ezine name, subscriber demographics, the rationale for why your subscribers would support your partner and information about any co-registration software currently in operation on your website.
