How to Communicate Better With Your Partner

Many times people separate from their life partners because they can no longer communicate with one another. These few simples steps can help you communicate better with your loved one.

1. Don't predict what they will say to you. After a long relationship, you may be able to finish someone's thoughts for them, but don't let that fool you. Think back to when you first met and remember how you hung on your partners every word, as if it was a new and wonderful discovery. Listen with those ears.

2. Don't take your partner for granted. Think of how you treat other people on a daily basis. If you're courteous and helpful to others, treat your partner at least as well.

3. Never assume you know what your partner is thinking. Don't try to read somone's mind. Ask what your partner is thinking instead of assuming that you know. You might think your partner is angry with you, when it's a work situation that is causing the hostility or coldness.
