With a little practice you can be taking it to the bag just like Rocky.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Speed Bag and Platform
  • Fist Wraps
  • Time

Step1
You will need to find a place to hang your speed bag and platform. It is recommended that you get a wall mounted platform and not one of the platforms on a stand. The stand-style platform will wobble and throw off the rhythm of the bag.
Step2
You'll want to wrap your fists tightly in the fist wraps. These wraps will protect your skin from the bag. Additionally, the wraps will protect your wrists from sprain.
Step3
Stand facing the bag squarely. You'll want to start a slow rocking motion from right to left. It helps to involve your feet in this motion. It will help to keep the bag in a steady rhythm.
Step4
Hit the bag with your left hand twice. Hit the bag with the bottom of your fist in a hammering motion. Or imagine that you are chipping ice off of an ice block with an imanginary ice pick. After hitting the bag twice in this way, cross with the right hand and punch the bag with your knuckles in a normal (straight) punching motion.
Step5
Follow this right handed punch with two right handed "ice pick" punches and a "normal" left handed punch. Rock your body with the motion of the punches.
Step6
It'll be hard at first to get a steady rhythm. Don't be discouraged with enough practice you'll be rocking the bag in no time. Plus you'll be getting a great workout.
