Step 3
Install a new reusable filter.

If you use a reusable filter on an engine with a carburetor, you might have to adjust the carburetor jets for improved airflow. The engine management system for modern engines will usually adjust for the increased airflow automatically.
-
Step 5
Reusable filters usually come with "Do Not Discard" stickers that can be placed on the outside of the filter housing. If someone else changes your filters, tell them to clean rather than discard the filter.
-
Step 6
Reusable filters must be periodically cleaned and recharged.Reusable air filters do have to be cleaned and recharged periodically. Follow the filter manufacturer’s instructions. Manufacturers recommend using their own service kits for cleaning and re-oiling their filters. These are designed for a particular filter technology. Using other products can degrade performance.
