Always feeling like your clothes are just bursting out of the wardrobe/closet? Here's a few tips on decluttering and maximising space in your wardrobe.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A wardrobe/closet
  • Clothes
  • Spacesaving bags
  • A couple of spare hours
  1. Step 1

Sort out your wardrobe about every six months. Remove everything from your wardrobe and put it into 3 piles:
    1. 'Doesn't fit, haven't worn in a year, tatty and therefore getting rid of it' pile.
    2. 'It's too cold or warm to wear this for now and will store it until the next sort out' pile
    3. 'Keeping in the wardrobe' pile.

  2. Step 2

Invest in a couple of space saving bags. When you sort out your clothes, put everything in pile 2 (previous step) into the bag(s). Follow the instructions on the space saver bag leaflet and store the clothes in a safe place until the next sort out.

  3. Step 3

For pile one, give those clothes to the charity shop. for pile 3, put back in your wardrobe. Enjoy your new found space.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do the same thing for shoes for even more space.
  • If a item has particular sentimental value or fragile but haven't worn it in ages, it's probably safer to keep it in the wardrobe.
