Watering plants when you are away for a long period of time is very easy and inexpensive to do.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • a empty bottel (depending on the size of the plant) 20oz. or a 2L
Step1
First decide on the size of your plant. For a very small plant you should use a 10 or 12 ounce bottle. For a medium size plant it should be a 16 to 20 ounce bottle.
For large plants you should use a 2L bottle. For trees and other very large plants needing large amounts of water use a gallon milk jug. For best results use soda bottles.
Step2
Fill the bottle with water. If you use miracle grow or another type of plant food you can add it to the water.
Step3
With your bottle go to your plant. Dig a hole about one inch deep in the soil, about two inches away from the plant.
Step4
Take your bottle and turn it upside down in the hole. You do not need the lid at all you can throw it away.
Step5
Pack the dirt around the lip of the bottle. Your bottle should be standing upright and slowly seeping water into the soil. It is close to the same principle as holding a cup upside down in water the water will not escape quickly.

Tips & Warnings

  • You do not need to punch holes in the bottle.
  • all that you do is put the bottle upside down and it does the watering for you.
