When you walk you dog it will be a much happier experience if YOU are walking the dog and the dog is not walking YOU!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a leash
  • a slip or choke collar
  • a dog
  1. Step 1

Put the slip collar or choke collar on the dog.

  2. Step 2

Take the dog out for a walk.

  3. Step 3

EVERY time the dog pulls, switch direction and walk the other way.

Tips & Warnings
  • Part of the reason for putting a slip or a choke collar on the dog is to show the dog that you are not just going to go out and "saunter along" but that you are going to train him, which is a different thing altogether from just letting the dog do his own thing.
  • Every time you walk the other way when the dog pulls ahead on the leash, you are showing the dog that he can't get anywhere without YOUR direction.
  • If the dog pulls too hard for you to get him to turn, stop completely and don't let him go anywhere at all.
  • If the dog has more power than your arms, clip the leash around your waist. Every time the dog pulls, just stop and don't let him go anywhere.
