Do you remember when you was a little child and your mom would make you those special things that only she could make. Don't you wish you would have written down all the recipes? Here is one of our specials, Old fashion caramel fudge

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 stick of butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup coco (optional)
  1. Step 1

    Melt one stick of butter or margarine at low heat

  2. Step 2

    when melted add 1 cup sugar, blend together well
    add 1cup evaporated milk to mixture

  3. Step 3

    turn heat to medium and bring to bubble stirring constantly.
    Mixture will began to caramelize and thicken.
    spread a thin layer of Butter on bottom pie dish, pour caramel
    in to dish. Place in refrigerator until cool. Cut into squares.

Tips & Warnings
  • Let small drops fall into a glass of water. If it beads
  • then it is done.
  • Stir constantly to prevent scorching
  • Butter on dish keeps the caramel from sticking
  • add 1/2 cup coco for chocolate caramel
  • May be used as Icing for Cake, do not let cook/thicken as long.
  • Caramel gets very hot and can blister the skin
