Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
The four-step Problem Solving Process works well for most standardized exams, including the GED. It is useful for both studying and actual test taking:
1. Read the Question Carefully
This is the greatest mistake that students make on the tests by reading too quickly and missing vital information. Don’t be in a hurry here. You will have plenty of time for all the tests.
Step2
2. Decide What Information to Use to Answer Each Question
You will be given several questions to answer from one selection of information. You will use only small parts to answer each individual question.
Step3
3. Answer the Question
Now is the time to look at the answer list. If you can’t easily find the right answer, use the process of elimination. Decide which answers are most likely to be wrong and guess between what is left. Remember that your first guess will most likely be right. Do not leave any question unanswered as you are scored only on correct answers. So, go ahead and guess if you must.
Step4
4. Re-read the Question
Ask yourself, “Does this answer REALLY answer the question?”
This four-step Problem Solving Process is easy to use and it will increase your scores. Remember to do each step carefully and slowly.
