It is not easy dealing with teens. They are curious and have so many things going on in their life. The peer pressure is there and they really need us to be there for them.
Be honest. Do not try to sugar coat things and take the easy road out. This is a serious thing and it needs to be addressed. Tell them that the pressure is there and they will be approached.
Step2
Allow them to talk. If you do not allow them to talk and ask questions freely they will no doubt turn to their peers and that is not good. Don't push them away, sit them down when they approach you with a concern.
Step3
Talk about the diseases. Research the diseases and study the literature. Talk to them about what they are up against and why it is better to abstain.
Step4
Make yourself available. You have to leave the lines of communication open and give your teen the feeling of ease. Allow them to speak with you whenever they need to.
Step5
Explain to them about pregnancy. Let them know that while this is not the end of the world, it is not easy. Babies require alot of care and they are expensive. Just be there. It is important that you are just there for them. It is important that we clear up all these issues, do not let your teen learn from their peers or from the streets. It will be to late when they become pregnant or contract a disease.
